Australia’s Gabi Ruffels has topped the Epson Tour standings to confirm her place as an LPGA Tour rookie in 2024.
Handing out 10 cards at the conclusion of the Epson Tour Championship, the secondary Tour has been a happy hunting ground for Ruffels, who had already confirmed her place on the premier women’s Tour in the world via three 2023 wins.
Finishing tied for 14th on 15-under at the Tour Championship, won by American Auston Kim on 23-under, Ruffels enjoyed a strong rookie year on the Epson Tour in 2022 but fell five places shy of an LPGA card.
Missing the entry deadline for the LPGA’s Q Series, the Victorian went back to the secondary circuit and won the Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic, Garden City Charity Classic and Four Winds Invitational during a season where she was one of nine players to collect more than US$100,000 in prizemoney.
The 2019 U.S Women’s Amateur champion the only player to exceed the $150,00 mark aided by an additional three top-10s this year.
“I’m so excited to officially say that I will be on the LPGA Tour next year,” Ruffels said. “It has been my goal since I turned pro at the start of 2021, and I’m so proud to have earned it through the Epson Tour.
“It means the world and is something that every little girl playing golf strives to do, so to be able to have status for next year and play in the tournaments that I grew up watching on TV is such a great feeling. I’m super excited for 2024.”
Finishing on the same mark at the Tour Championship, as well as another Aussie in Cassie Porter, Queenslander Robyn Choi narrowly missed joining Ruffels on the LPGA Tour next year. The 25-year-old finishing 12th on the Epson ‘Race to the Card’ money list.
