After announcing all new Rogue drivers and fairway woods earlier this week, Callaway’s latest range continues to grow with the inclusion of new iron and hybrid models.
Like the fairway woods of the same name the three Rogue models, standard, X and women’s, mark the first time Callaway has incorporated its ‘Jailbreak’ technology into a hybrid, with the aim of delivering the impressive ball speed improvements first seen in the company’s Epic drivers.
Made from steel, the two bars are cast into the main body of the hybrids to strengthen the relationship between the crown and sole, stiffening the body. This allows the face to take more impact load and increase ball speed across a wider area as well as meaning Callaway’s engineers could deliver a thinner Carpenter 455 steel face.
The ultra-thin face combines with the proprietary ‘Hyper Speed Face Cup’ technology to increase ball speed and distance on both centre and off-centre strikes.
To ensure the hybrids remain easy to hit and launch in addition to producing increased distance, Callaway incorporated its ‘Internal Standing Wave’ technology in the new models. Allowing for a precise centre of gravity (CG) location.
“Rogue represents the perfect marriage between distance and forgiveness and we are already receiving incredible feedback from our Staff Professionals around the world who helped develop these products and are keen to put them into competitive play in the 2018 season,” Senior Vice President, Research and Development at Callaway Golf Dr. Alan Hocknell said.
Suited to the widest range of players the standard hybrid is available from a 2H through to 6H and comes standard with an Aldila Synergy 60g shaft.

Featuring a larger head size, stronger lofts and lighter weighting the Rogue X hybrid aims to deliver maximum distance in a hybrid, while the women’s model is designed to increase the clubhead speed and launch conditions of slower swing speed players.
The Rogue iron family encompasses four models to suit a wide variety of golfers, with each targeted player’s key performance characteristics the focus of the standard, X, Pro and women’s models.
In keeping with the Rogue name Callaway says the new irons are designed to further increase ball speeds and distance while also delivering forgiveness through the use of “new innovations and advanced multi-material technologies that overhaul how distance and forgiveness should feel.”
Technology from previous models are part of the Rogue iron story with enhanced versions of Callaway’s ‘360 Face Cup’ and ‘Variable Face Thickness’ (VFT) technologies primarily powering each models distance gains. The face cup’s rim flexes and releases to improve ball speed, while the use of VFT increases forgiveness and distance on mis-hits.
Similarly to the Rogue hybrids, the four new iron models utilise the company’s internal standing wave technology for optimal CG locations in each model and individual iron loft within a set, with Tungsten used to achieve the task in such a small space due the material weighing twice as much as steel.
The newest piece of technology incorporated in the Rogue models is the injection of a urethane material with tiny air pockets called ‘Microspheres’ directly behind the clubface. Typically, thinner, faster clubfaces deliver distance at the expense of feel. Injecting materials like urethane behind the face improves the feel but can often affect the face’s ability to rebound quickly.
To overcome this trade off Callaway has incorporated the new microsphere material, which itself flexes at impact to deliver a combination of feel and maximum ball speed.
“The technical complexity of Rogue Irons propels performance into the unknown. We have created a new class of Iron here, beyond anything launched at Callaway before,” Hocknell said.
Again like the hybrid models the standard Rogue iron will suit the widest scope of players with its medium sole width and progressive offset.
With its wider sole, low CG, stronger lofts and longer shaft lengths the lighter Rogue X is engineered for distance.
Offering the same technologies and performance benefits in a more compact profile that will appeal to better players, the Rogue Pro delivers shot shaping and trajectory control through its minimal offset and thin sole.
Rounding out the range is the ultra-lightweight women’s model, which features a wider sole and lower CG to increase launch and distance.
Callaway's new Rogue irons and hybrids models will be available on store from February 23.
