In one of the most successful weekends ever for Australian golf, home grown players had wins on four Tours across the globe, led by Masters Champion Adam Scott who won the first leg of the FedEx Cup play-offs, The Barclays, on the US PGA Tour.

This capped off a superb weekend with fellow Queenslanders Bronson La’Cassie winning on the Web.Com Tour and Brad Kennedy collecting his second title on the Japanese Tour.

Closer to home, Nick Cullen won a tough Isuzu Queensland Open at Brookwater Golf & Country Club.

SCOTT AT THE BARCLAYS

Adam Scott had a bogey-free final round of 5-under 66 to finish at 11-under par, one stroke ahead of Tiger Woods, Graham DeLaet, Justin Rose and Gary Woodland to claim his second win of the year.

Setting the clubhouse mark nearly an hour before final group finished their rounds, Scott looked certain to head into a play-off but none of his chasers could convert birdies late in the round.

"I couldn't believe it to be honest," Scott said. "I think I just played a good round today and I came in and really didn't think I had a chance but obviously things went my way a lot out there and I'm so happy."

"It was a good charge, but obviously I got a lot of luck, the guys struggled coming in."

"I've been in their position, too. It's hard getting it done and I was playing from a position of nothing to lose today."

Scott’s win is expected to lift him to World No. 2 in the rankings and second in the FedEx Cup standing.

His six-stroke come-from-behind win is the largest in The Barclays history.

Several other Australians put in solid performances over the four rounds including Jason Day (tied 25th), Matt Jones (tied 33rd), Greg Chalmers (tied 37th) and Stuart Appleby (tied for 41st).

LA’CASSIE WINS IN PLAY-OFF

Bronson La’Cassie snatched his first Web.Com Tour title and secured a PGA Tour card for 2014 by defeating Matt Bettencourt on the third hole of a playoff at the Cox Classic in Nebraska.

With a closing four-under 67, the 30-year-old won his first international Tour title when Bettencourt bogied the 18th hole on their third visit.

KENNEDY PREVAILS

Brad Kennedy went into the final round of the Kansai Golf Open with a one-shot lead. When the final round was abandoned, the Queensland had his second win on the Japanese Tour.

Aaron Townsend finished alone in fourth position after a third round 66.

CULLEN TOPS AT BROOKWATER

South Australian Nick Cullen fired a three under 69 in the final round to win the Isuzu Queensland Open by five shots from veteran Peter O’Malley.

“I felt really good, I had been playing well and my swing feels good. I just hung in there, went through my routine shot by shot and tried to stay in the moment – it worked out well,” said Cullen.

Cullen started the day with a one shot lead thanks to his course record round of 65 on Saturday.

“It was really important yesterday, I would have been a fair way of the pace if I hadn’t shot such a good score,” he said.

The Isuzu Queensland Open is the first victory on the PGA Tour of Australasia for the 29-year-old South Australian.

“I am feeling great, it’s been a long time between wins so to finally have another one feels awesome,” said Cullen, who won the 2012 Indonesia Open.

“It makes my season a lot easier, it gives me status next year and it will let me look at playing US qualifying school.”
