Adam Scott might need a bigger wardrobe. The Queenslander fired a course record 64 to surge past US Open champion Justin Rose and snatch victory in the PGA Grand Slam of Golf in Bermuda.

He collected a $600,000 winner’s cheque and a pink jacket – to go with his Australian Masters gold jacket and the coveted green one he collected for winning the Masters at Augusta National in April.

There was some synergy between this win and his victory at Augusta – he played the final round in a white shirt, there was intermittent rain during the closing holes and it was his trusty 6-iron that delivered the closing approach shot.

Rose led by a shot with three holes to play but he could not counter Scott’s charge over the closing stages of the 36-hole tournament, which brings together the year’s four major champions.

The Masters winner grabbed the lead at the penultimate hole when his 6-iron settled within a few inches of the cup and led to a tap-in eagle three. He went on to win by two strokes.

PGA champion Jason Dufner finished third, five shots back of Scott, while Padraig Harrington, who replaced Open champion Phil Mickelson, was well off the pace at three over.

“Obviously, I’m thrilled to come out on top,” said Scott.

“Fun … but a trying couple of days here, really, especially today. Standing on the 11th tee, didn’t look like a score like that was going to be possible. But I played very well and managed to slowly claw away at Justin.”

Scott is the second Australian to hoist the PGA Grand Slam of Golf trophy. His idol and mentor, Greg Norman, won the event three times between 1986 and 1994.
