World No.2 Adam Scott has confirmed he will play the Australian Masters, PGA and Open as he attempts to win the Aussie triple crown
World No.2 Adam Scott has confirmed he will play all three flagship events on the PGA Tour of Australasia this summer.

By committing to defend his titles at the Australian Masters and the Australian PGA Championship, Scott is hoping to go one better than 2013 and win the rare Triple Crown of Australian golf.
Scott created Australian sporting history in April last year by becoming the first Australian to win the coveted Green Jacket at Augusta National and since then he has ascended to the World No.1 ranking, a position he held from May 19 2014 for a period of 11 weeks.
Having won the 2013 Australian PGA Championship, 2013 Talisker Australian Masters, the teams event component of the 2013 World Cup partnered with Jason Day and then narrowly missing out on claiming the 2013 Triple Crown with a second place finish in the 2013 Australian Open, Scott is looking forward to returning to Australia to compete on home soil again.
“It was an amazing four weeks playing in Australia last year, the support I received was incredible and I am really looking forward to returning this year,” Scott said. “Having almost won the Triple Crown last year, I am very keen to see if I can go one better this year.”
Rounding out his schedule was confirmation he would defend his titles at the Australian Masters, to be played at Melbourne’s Metropolitan Golf Club from November 20 to 23, and the Australian PGA, back at RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast from December 11 to 14.
“Whenever you’re defending you always want to return and relive all those good experiences from the previous years but particularly when you’re returning home to Australia and also the Gold Coast which is my home,” Scott said.
“It was an amazing week at the PGA last year coming home and playing in front of everyone, so many friends and family out there but the support was great and I’m really looking forward to coming back this year.”
Last year Scott overcame American Rickie Fowler to claim the PGA title by four strokes. It was a special win for Scott whose father Phil is a long-time PGA Professional.
“There’s a lot of special meaning with the PGA of Australia being part of our family and so much a part of my Dad’s Professional life. It was starting to annoy me that I hadn’t won (the Joe Kirkwood Cup) because I wanted to win it for him and to have finally done that last year was very satisfying, probably for both of us,” Scott said.
Scott says he’s also looking forward to seeing the re-vamped RACV Royal Pines layout which, by the time of the tournament, will have undergone significant re-modelling and re-shaping of the front nine under the design guidance of Graham Marsh.
“Royal Pines has been one of the leading resorts in the area for such a long time and of course everything needs to evolve and be updated as the modern equipment moves on and as it’s hosting tournaments of the PGA’s stature,” he added.
Scott said he is also looking forward to returning to Melbourne and aiming for a hat-trick of wins in the Australian Masters.
“To win a hat-trick of events is something I haven’t done before and would be right up there in my career achievements, especially to do it in Melbourne at the Masters,” he said.
“The Metropolitan Golf Club is a fantastic course and I am looking forward to playing a tournament there for the first time.”
Following on from the Australian Masters, Scott will battle it out with World No.1 Rory McIlroy as well as World Cup team mate Jason Day for the Stonehaven Trophy at the Emirates Australian Open, to be played at the redesigned The Australian Golf Club in Sydney from November 27 to 30.
