ROYAL PARK GOLF COURSE

Just beyond the grounds of Melbourne Zoo, in the parklands of Parkville, Royal Park GC, operated by Greenspace Management, offers a fun and challenging nine-hole course that rewards both precision and creativity.

The layout mixes shorter par-3s with a pair of par-4s drivable from the tee, along with longer, narrow holes that demand accuracy. The result is a course which tests golfers of all levels, encouraging bold play in places, while punishing anything too far off line.

Royal Park Golf Course is more than that; it is a community of golfers drawn from all parts of Melbourne. The club prides itself on fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for players of all skill levels and abilities. Whether you are a beginner picking up the game for the first time or an experienced golfer looking to sharpen your skills, this is the place for you.

Standout holes add plenty of intrigue. The 295-metre par-4 second offers a genuine birdie chance with a straight, long drive, but stray right and heavy rough - and even the train line – comes into play.

The 353-metre eighth, known as the “Tunnel of Terror”, rewards a bold line off the tee, while the 267-metre ninth tempts big hitters to attack the green, with concealed bunkers waiting for anything slightly misjudged.

Teven is a fresh and exciting addition to Australia’s golfing landscape. It’s the country’s first tee-to-green Sir Grange Zoysia course, giving golfers a premium playing surface from start to finish. The nine boutique holes are cleverly crafted to test experienced players, with well-placed hazards and thoughtful design features that reward smart shot-making. Despite these challenges, which it lays down to all comers, this Craig Parry-designed layout, reopened in January 2021, never forgets the fun factor. It’s ideal for a quick but satisfying round, with each hole offering something different. Whether you’re chasing a genuine test or just a relaxed hit, this course certainly delivers both.

Mid-last year, Teven proudly hosted Australia’s best professional and elite amateur golfers for the NSW Open Regional Qualifying Series. Part of a time-honoured lead-up to the NSW Open Golf Championship, this series features six $50,000 events that draw competitors from across the country.
