Ogilvy exclusive: Golf in the coronavirus era
We’ve all been experiencing strange times over the last three months. But not being able to play golf for a while and living almost exclusively at home has been especially odd for a seasoned traveller like me.

Ogilvy: My perfect course
It hasn’t been built yet. And it probably never will be; the perfect golf course, that is.

Ogilvy: “What should a world Tour look like?”
The world’s professional golf Tours may be suspended right now due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak – but that doesn’t mean the concept of a world Tour has lost any traction. Here, Geoff Ogilvy discusses his “dream Tour”.

Ogilvy: “The International team is in a better place than ever before”
I’m sitting here two days after the Presidents Cup at Royal Melbourne and it is still all I can think about.

Ogilvy: “I can’t help feeling it has 'dumbed me down' as a golfer”
I was on an aeroplane when the thought occurred.

Ogilvy: Rory would swap his year for Tiger’s but not Koepka's
As soon as Rory McIlroy won the FedExCup, the last event on the 2018-19 PGA Tour, the debate started. Who is “Player of the Year?”

Ogilvy: Major win means major decisions
The major season is over for another year and two new champions are right now experiencing the life and attitude adjustments I went through following my US Open victory back in 2006.

Ogilvy: A special Open invitation
It’s been 13 years now since I won the US Open, but the benefits from what is the highlight of my career so far keep on coming.

Ogilvy: Koepka is leading golf’s evolution
In golf, especially at the professional level, the best techniques have always hit the longest shots. Always.

Ogilvy: Get as mad as hell if it helps
We’ve all got one, albeit to varying degrees on the golf course. A temper that is.

Ogilvy: Have too many cooks spoiled the rules broth?
Like everyone else in golf, I’ve spent some time recently getting my head round the new rules that were introduced on January 1st.

OGILVY: Appearance Money … Golf’s Necessary Evil
It’s a subject that comes up fairly regularly. Indeed, it never seems to go away. And it always provokes extreme emotions on either side of the debate.

OGILVY: My Scottish Pilgrimage
We were in Scotland – 12 of us – to celebrate the 40th birthday of a good friend, Cameron Ferguson.

Ogilvy: Tarnished – How the Stonehaven Cup lost its lustre
Growing up in Melbourne, I was always told that the Australian Open was golf’s ‘fifth major’. It had such a great history, so the case was persuasive. Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player had all regularly come down to play and all three had won the event. So I was sold.

OGILVY: Tiger’s Cubs – Taking the game to new levels
It’s been a while since a golfer has impressed me as much as Brooks Koepka did in claiming the US PGA Championship title in August.

Ogilvy: Why the cream rose to the top at Carnoustie
Like many people, I watched the Open Championship at Carnoustie and marvelled at how far the ball was running on the fairways. It was great to see, even if it isn’t something you would want to experience every week. It is just too relentless and, at times, flukey. I lost count of how many times players misjudged how far their shots were going to bounce and roll before eventually stopping.

OGILVY: Where the USGA continues to get it wrong
Sitting at home watching the US Open at Shinnecock Hills, the first emotion I felt was envy. I’ve missed the last two championships after playing a ton of them in a row, but 2018 was different from 2017. Apart from a little bit of bruised ego, I wasn’t jealous at all of those who played at Erin Hills last year. It looked like a pretty good one to miss.

Ogilvy: Why only the greats win at Carnoustie
I played in my first Open Championship at Carnoustie in 1999. I was pretty excited. I had failed to qualify a couple of times while I was still an amateur, so it was special for me to make my Open debut during my first year as a professional. I had performed really well in the qualifying and was really looking forward to playing a course I had been to and really enjoyed a couple of times before.

OGILVY: Patrick Reed’s past buried the lead
This bothered me. In the immediate aftermath of Patrick Reed’s recent victory in the Masters, nine-out-of-10 of the follow-up articles seemed to be about his background and his family.

OGILVY: We need to embrace golf’s balance
If you’re like me, you are getting a little tired of the distance/equipment/technology debate in golf.

OGILVY: Bubba Watson is a misunderstood genius
It’s safe to say that, from a distance at least, not many people in golf are quite sure what to make of Bubba Watson.
