• Despite victory at the Hero Open marking Horsfield’s first European Tour win, the 23-year-old is a familiar name to many keen golf fans, having been identified as a future talent by Ryder Cup star and fellow Florida resident Ian Poulter as a young man. Horsfield, typically among the longest players on the European Tour, relied on accuracy this week, ranking in the top-20 for driving accuracy and greens in regulation, using the same model driver as Tiger Woods as well as the irons designed by TaylorMade for the 15-time major winner.

• Having made a bogey six at the par-5 17^th on Saturday Horsfield’s birdie on Sunday after a magnificent fairway wood approach secured his maiden win by one shot over Belgium’s Thomas Detry and gave Titleist a double win weekend on the European Tour, with Justin Thomas’ WGC win also a European Tour event.
