Despite feedback from the world’s top players wearing the Pro|SL that there was no need to change what was already a high quality, high performance shoe, FootJoy set about updating the spikeless model with the company’s ethos of ‘Only Everything Matters’ driving the changes.

“As the industry leader, we didn’t tweak or adjust the new Pro|SL, we innovated and advanced and received Tour approval,” Director of Product Management, FootJoy Footwear Richard Fryer said. “As a result, we’ve developed a product that delivers more stability, more traction, more comfort and more choice, setting the standard in performance footwear, again”.

Featuring a nearly 12 percent wider heel and increased forefoot stability, the all-new ‘Infinity outsole’ offers 189 points of traction to provide a more stable base for the golf swing.

Further increasing stability while also delivering enhanced comfort, the ‘Dual-Density (D2) Midsole’ incorporates firmer ‘Fine Tuned Foam’ around the perimeter and a softer version of the foam under the foot, increasing cushioning and comfort.

The new Pro|SL’s ‘Power Harness’ helps achieve increased medial and lateral support and together with the soft waterproof leather comfortably wraps around golfers’ feet.

“I’m someone who loves to be comfortable, and the new Pro|SL is the most comfortable golf shoe I’ve ever put on my feet,” Louis Oosthuizen said of the new model.

Adding to the choice on offer, the new Pro|SL Carbon takes comfort and stability even further through the use of a carbon fibre insert, a soft, moulded collar for a no slip fit and a ‘OrthoLite Impressions FitBed’ that adapts to each individual foot.

The carbon fibre insert lies in the midsole and snaps back in to place with each step to minimise foot and leg fatigue when walking the golf course.

Available around Australia in late February, the new Pro|SL models will also be customisable through the company’s MyJoys program.
