A fitting experience built on data, not guesswork

FitLAB is a purpose‑built mobile fitting platform that uses an array of more than a dozen cameras to produce a precise 3D map of each golfer’s feet, capturing length, width and, crucially, volume. The scan takes seconds and runs on a tablet‑based interface that gives fitters and consumers an immediate, side‑by‑side view of both feet.

From that scan, the FitLAB system recommends the FootJoy models and sizes best matched to the golfer’s foot shape and swing characteristics. The objective is simple: help every golfer get into the right size, last and silhouette so the shoe works with the swing rather than against it.

Why fit matters: performance, comfort, confidence

Golfers take roughly 10,000 steps over an 18‑hole round, and the way a shoe couples the player to the ground influences balance, stability and energy transfer through impact. A properly fitted shoe can:

  • Improve traction and grip through the swing by stabilising the foot inside the shoe.
  • Reduce in‑round fatigue and the hot spots, blisters and arch pain caused by a shoe that is too long, too narrow or the wrong volume.
  • Support better energy transfer from the ground up, helping golfers use the surface to deliver speed and consistency.
  • Match silhouette and last to the player, whether that’s a low‑profile, athletic silhouette or a classic, premium leather last.
  • Take the guesswork out of buying by confirming size, width and model recommendation by a fitting specialist.

The fitting experience is open to golfers of all abilities. PGA TOUR player Justin Thomas previously told FootJoy he “never even thought shoes could perform differently” before going through a tour fitting; FitLAB brings the same standard of fitting to everyday players.

Inside a FitLAB session

A typical FitLAB session takes around 10 to 15 minutes. The golfer steps onto the FitLAB platform in socks, both feet are scanned simultaneously, and a 3D render of each foot is generated on the fitter’s tablet. The fitter then walks the golfer through the recommended models, with options spanning FootJoy’s performance line of Premiere Series, Pro/SL and other models to suit all needs. Golfers can try the recommended shoes on the spot.
