Available in golf shops beginning March 9, the new wedges are offered in 23 combinations, with shaft, grip, stamping and paint fill customisation also possible, to increase the Vokey range’s reputation for fitting and versatility even more. With five established sole grinds – F, S, M, K and L – joined by the all new D grind, which combines high bounce with a crescent shaped M grind, meaning there is a Vokey SM7 for every player type and turf condition. , The versatility of the Vokey SM7 have already made them the most used wedge on the PGA Tour

“One thing I know from working with tour players the last 20-plus years is that they won’t put a new wedge in play unless it’s better,” Vokey said. “Every time we come out with a new one, we have to prove it. I can’t tell you how many times over the last couple years players asked me and Aaron (Vokey Tour Rep Aaron Dill) how we were going to make something better than SM6. Based on how quickly guys are switching to SM7, we know we’ve done it.”

Having introduced the visible progressive centre of gravity (CG) design in the previous SM6 wedges, Vokey and his design team have taken the technology a step further by raising the CG location even higher in the high lofted models and lower in low lofts to deliver consistent ball flight and control as well as improved feel.

Despite already offering outstanding spin throughout the range of SM6 lofts, the SM7 wedges’ grooves are cut at even tighter tolerances with the Tour Chrome and Brushed Steel finished models undergoing another ‘Spin Milled’ cutting process to increase spin. The new line are also heat treated to produce longer lasting spin than previous models.

Already in the bag of Jordan Spieth and recent Tour winner Patton Kizzire among many others, the new model is offered in three finishes to offer golfers’ even more choices. In addition to the tour chrome and brushed steel the SM7 are also available in ‘Jet Black’ with black paint fill and logos delivering a unique look often requested by the world’s best players.

SRP: $229 (steel); $269 (graphite).
