Titleist has announced the release of a new golf ball model, Tour Soft, as well as a new version of its Velocity ball, which is engineered for speed and distance.
Replacing the NXT Tour and NXT Tour S models in Titleist’s range the new Tour Soft is the result of the company’s golf ball scientists and engineer’s endless pursuit of constant improvement through the use of different materials, new technology and innovative design.
Containing the largest core of any Titleist golf ball, the Tour Soft delivers impressive ball speed and distance as well as an extremely soft feel, which the company says makes it “the softest-feeling golf ball in its category”.
“We knew based on breakthroughs being made in R&D that there was an opportunity to deliver a brand new high-performance golf ball that would lead the category in terms of soft compression feel,” Vice President, Titleist Golf Ball Marketing Michael Mahoney said.
Offered in white and high-optic yellow the new model adds outstanding short game performance to its increased ball speed and incredibly soft feel through the use of a new ultra-thin ‘4CE’ grafted cover.
The extremely thin and soft cover is made with ‘TCU Process’ technology and utilises a blend of four materials and is moulded uniformly across the surface of the ball thanks to new innovations in the manufacturing process discovered at Titleist’s renowned Titleist Ball Plant 2.
A new spherically-tiled 342 cuboctahedron dimple design has also been specifically designed for the new Tour Soft and produces a penetrating flight that is also extremely consistent.
“Ultimately, because of our exhaustive and iterative prototyping process, we were able to deliver everything we wanted in Tour Soft – and more,” Mahoney said.
The latest version of the company’s popular Velocity golf ball is engineered for distance and increased speed through the use of Titleist’s proprietary high-speed technology.
A softer high-speed LSX core combines with the fastest cover of any Titleist golf ball to produce high ball speeds and low spin, for outstanding distance from the tee.
“Everything we do with Velocity is to generate speed and distance,” Mahoney said. “When we spoke to Velocity golfers at the beginning of the development process, they told us they wanted even more distance, especially off the tee. Our R&D team responded with new core technology and the fastest cover of any Titleist golf ball on the market to give them that added advantage.”
To deliver a high flight that allows golfers to achieve distance gains throughout the rest of the bag as well as soft landing approach shots into greens the latest Velocity incorporates a spherically-tiled 328 tetrahedral dimple design for optimal aerodynamic performance.
In addition to white the new Velocity is also available in high visibility options Velocity Pink and VISI-White, the latter featuring double digit identifying numbers 00, 22, 77 and 99, chosen for their popularity with Team Titleist members, as well as an orange sidestamp.
Both new models will be available in Australian golf shops beginning February 3.
