Australia's Jason Scrivener is four shots off the pace as England's Jordan Smith and Malaysian Gavin Green lead the Portugal Masters at halfway.
Overnight leader Smith, who'd opened up with a blistering 62, followed up with a four-under 67 on Friday, ending with back-to-back birdies to head into the weekend on 13-under-par at the Dom Pedro Victoria course.
He joined fellow morning starter Green on that mark after the Malaysian had carded seven birdies and a solitary bogey in his second-round 65.
Finn Tapio Pulkkanen and Frenchman Benjamin Hebert were one shot back in a tie for third after they each followed up opening 66s with matching 64s to remain bogey-free after 36 holes.
Scrivener is among a group of nine players well-placed in joint-13th but he'd have been in an even better place if not for a lone bogey on the 18th after a blemish-free round.
Scott Hend shot his second successive 67 to lie just a shot behind Scrivener, while fellow Queenslander Maverick Antcliff shot a 66 to ensure he'd also make the cut at six-under overall.
