Following feedback from Callaway staff professionals, Odyssey has added red models to its successful O-Works line.
The new O-Works Red putters are already making their major championship debut, with various Tour players unveiling prototypes during the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. Callaway says the putters will be available to the Australian public in September.
Dr. Alan Hocknell, Callaway’s Senior Vice President of Research and Development, said that many of the company’s staff players are beginning to become attracted to the idea of red putters.
“The head colour has been generating a lot of interest on Tour this season, and a number of our players asked to test prototypes combining our Microhinge Insert Technology with a red finish.”
That Microhinge Face Insert Technology is said to provide an unmatched roll for all levels of player. The face insert pairs a stainless steel Microhinge plate co-moulded into a Thermoplastic Elastomer Feel Layer, enabling the tiny hinges on the hitting surface to lift the ball into a better roll at impact.
Odyssey says that the technology makes the putter face more flexible, meaning all golfers will see increased top-spin and roll to their putts, even with a less-than-perfect putting stroke.
“We know that if the best players like something and putt well with it, real golfers are definitely going to like it, too,” Hocknell said.

Odyssey O-Works Red Putters will be available in a number of shapes – including the iconic 2-Ball, #7, R-Line Fang, and the new #7S model, which is a short slant-neck version of the #7 with more toe hang.
The putters are set to hit Australian shelves on September 15, 2017.
RRP: $349.99.
