As part of a $513 million commitment to high performance sport, the Win Well strategy will support Golf Australia’s High Performance Program and provide athletes, coaches and support staff with the resources and expertise required to compete at the highest level.

Golf Australia will also benefit from increased support through the Play Well strategy, which will help expand participation programs such as MyGolf and Get Into Golf and create more opportunities for Australians to discover and stay involved in golf.

Golf Australia Chief Executive Officer James Sutherland said the combined support through Play Well and Win Well represented a significant boost for Australian golf.

“This is an exciting time for golf in Australia. The support through both Play Well and Win Well allows us to take a whole-of-sport approach — supporting people to start playing, continue playing and, for those who reach the elite level, compete on the world stage,” Sutherland said.

“Golf is a game for life and this funding will help us to continue building a stronger, more inclusive sport that has such a huge impact on the lifestyle of people of all ages.

"We thank the Australian Sports Commission and the Australian Institute of Sport for their ongoing partnership and support.”

The Win Well investment will support the ongoing work of Golf Australia’s High Performance Program, including athlete preparation, coaching, sports science, medical support and performance pathways designed to maximise success on the international stage.

Golf Australia’s General Manager - High Performance Brad James said continued investment was critical to providing the country’s best golfers with the support required to perform consistently at major events around the world.

“Success in high performance sport requires long-term planning and investment in athletes, coaches and support staff,” James said.

“This announcement provides the stability needed to continue strengthening our programs and ensuring Australian golfers have access to world-class support as they pursue Olympic selection and success.”

Golf Australia is one of 58 sporting organisations that will receive Play Well funding to help create safe, welcoming, inclusive and fun sporting environments.
