Scotland’s Ewen Ferguson started Sunday’s final round at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters three shots in arrears of co-leaders Adrian Meronk and Matthew Jordan, before a strong finish delivered a maiden DP World Tour win.
Having arrived at Doha Golf Club early on Sunday to work on his chipping after being told by his coach, Jamie Gough, it hadn’t been good enough, Ferguson got off to a rough start with a double bogey at the par-4 2nd. The 25-year-old without another blemish on his scorecard over the remainder of two-under 70.
With Meronk and Jordan struggling on the back nine on Sunday, Ferguson and American playing partner Chase Hanna were part of a pack looking to post a score and perhaps force a play-off, with Ferguson’s eagle at the driveable par-4 16th giving him an advantage.
The World No.311 then making birdie at the 72nd hole to hold the clubhouse lead of seven-under and a nervous wait to see if anyone could match, or better him as her chased his first win in his 37th Tour start.

No one could reach his total, and Ferguson was able to celebrate capturing the title, with Hanna in second alone one shot back.
“I just can't believe it at all. Years and years of hard work,” Ferguson told the DP World Tour from the range when things were finally official. "My mum, dad, sister and brother and all my family gave me everything to try and get to this moment and it's an absolute dream come true.”
Adelaide’s Wade Ormsby was the best of the Australian contingent, the 41-year-old’s card once again marked with too many dropped shots against three birdies on Sunday to see him finish in a share of 12th. West Australian Jason Scrivener ending the week in T27.
