Cobra Golf’s 2018 equipment line-up continues to grow with the release of new black finished versions of the popular King Utility iron and King Forged Tec irons.
Both new models, as with all 2018 launches from the company, incorporate the ‘Cobra Connect Powered by Arccos’ system, which delivers insight into a player’s game through the use of electronic sensors embedded in the butt of each grip. The sensors tracking shot performance and combining with the ‘Arccos 360’ app, which also acts as GPS unit preloaded with more than 40,000 courses.
The face of the new King Forged Tec Black is forged from 4140 stainless steel and is thinner and stronger for increased ball speeds and improved deflection across a larger area, while the ‘Technology Enhanced Cavity’ features a carbon fibre medallion that helps achieve the soft but solid feel off the clubface preferred by better players.
To ensure the performance and forgiveness of the new model match the premium look and feel, high-density tungsten is located in the heel and toe of each iron to precisely place the centre of gravity (CG) low and in the centre of the clubhead.
The unique ‘Dimonized Black Metal’ matte finish is the “most durable satin black finish ever” according to Cobra. And in addition to its wear resistance properties also reduces glare and is the finish Rickie Fowler opts for on his Cobra irons.
More tungsten was used to create the new King Forged TEC Black One Length irons, which are all built to 7-iron length. The progressive tungsten weights in the sole of each iron allows for matching head weights throughout the set, which features varied lie angles from the short- to long-irons for optimal ball flights and improved consistency throughout the bag.
The King Utility Black iron is an adjustable long-iron replacement offering increased ball speed and launch thanks to ‘Pwrshell’ face technology and a multi-material hollow-body design.
A forged 455 stainless steel face insert delivers consistent launch and ball speed across the entire face, while tungsten toe weights are used for precise CG placement and are heavier in the one length version to allow the 3u (18˚-21˚), 4u (21˚-24˚) and 5u (24˚-27˚) to be built at 7-iron length to match the rest of single-length iron players’ sets.
To complete the new stealth-like look of both the new iron models black powder coated True Temper AMT Tour White shafts comes as standard, with UST Recoil the standard graphite option.
