If you're old enough to remember the year 2000, you will recall that after the hysteria of the Y2K bug there was the hysteria of another kind. And it all surrounded Tiger Woods.
Of course, in the world of golf, Tiger Woods dominated in 2000. He emulated the feat of Ben Hogan, some 47 years earlier, in winning three majors in one year.
In Woods' case it laid the platform for the 'Tiger Slam' which he completed when he won the 2001 Masters to hold all four majors at once.
It would be easy to assume little else happened in golf in 2000, but you would be wrong. Equipment was changing, metal spikes were all but gone from the grass roots of the game and there some youngsters in Australia about to take the game by storm.
