EQUIPMENT NOTES:

  • After winning with his mixed bag of equipment earlier this year, Scheffler joined TaylorMade's Tour staff earlier this month, the new contract in the works since the brief off-season and resulting in just one change so far. Staying loyal to an ancient (by Tour standards) Nike 3-wood until now, Scheffler put a TaylorMade Stealth High Launch model in play this week. To replace his Nike carrying 12.5° of loft the company had to do some serious work, with lower lofted models going too far for the Texan, the 16.5° club allowing him to hit higher and longer shots, but also launch shots lower in his preferred shot window that the Nike achieved for him with such regularity.

  • Like a number of his fellow Tour players, the 25-year-old plays the iron model designed to mimick those of Tiger Woods while he has also made a recent change to his 4-iron. Previously carrying a cavity back Srixon ZX7, Scheffler is now carrying the matching utility iron from Srixon to his 3-iron. The longer club fitted with a graphite shaft, while his 4-iron features the same steel shafts as his TaylorMade irons, and the same shaft Woods has used his entire career.

  • Scheffler's third win on the PGA Tour in 2022 is also the 10th for Titleist's Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls on the circuit this year. The 10 titles coming from 14 events.

QUOTE: “Definitely a lot of emotion coming off the green today. It's been kind of a crazy past few months. I got my first win in Phoenix, and then I guess this is my third now, and golly, what a long week.” – Scottie Scheffler.
