EQUIPMENT NOTES:

  • Westwood’s success in the season long Race to Dubai caps an impressive couple of weeks for his equipment sponsor PING. Following a week where PING equipment was used by winners on both the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour, Westwood and DP World Tour Championship winner Matthew Fitzpatrick give the company’s i210 irons a fourth win in two weeks. With the two Englishmen also using irons fitted with PING shafts, a rare sight on the world’s professional Tours.
  • A PING player for his entire career and even as a young amateur, Westwood uniquely uses two i210 U wedges in his setup. The two gap/approach wedges bent to different lofts and with a larger head and cavity back design, playing more similarly to many of the PING wedges the 47-year-old has used throughout his career.
  • Westwood and Fitzpatrick combined to give Titleist golf balls the Order of Merit and tournament win double this week, the company’s Pro V1 range of golf balls used by the last five straight European Tour tournament winners.

QUOTE: “The motivation's never changed, really. I get to get up each day and do the job I love. I've always wanted to be a golfer, and I don't want it to end.” – Lee Westwood.
