American Jessica Korda followed up a Saturday 60 with a final round 66 to win the LPGA Tour’s first event of 2021, Korda defeating Danielle Kang in a sudden death play-off. Here is what she had in the bag.
WINNING SCORE: 24-under-par, 260.
EQUIPMENT CHOICE:
DRIVER: Titleist TS4, fitted with Fujikura Ventus Blue 6 S shaft.
3 WOOD: Titleist TS2 with 15˚ loft, with Fujikura Ventus Blue 7 S shaft.
7 WOOD: PINGG410, with Fujikura Ventus Blue 7 S shaft.
IRONS: Titleist T100 (4-iron to 9-iron), with True Temper Dynamic Gold 105 S shafts.
WEDGES: Titleist Vokey Design SM8 (46˚-10˚ F Grind, 50˚-12˚ F Grind, 54˚-14˚ F Grind & 60˚-10˚ S Grind), with True Temper Dynamic Gold 105 S shafts.
PUTTER: Scotty Cameron Prototype.
BALL: Titleist Pro V1.
EQUIPMENT NOTES:
Korda’s sixth LPGA Tour win came on the back of some incredible ball striking across the weekend, the 27-year-old missing just two greens in regulation over the last 36 holes of the season opening event. Korda and her sister Nelly, who finished in third two shots out of the play-off, both use Titleist’s T100 irons, which replaced the company’s popular AP2 line.
-
One of the longest drivers on Tour, Korda opts for the smaller headed and lower spinning TS4 model from Titleist TS line that has been recently superseded by the brand’s new TSi range. Averaging 281.25 yards off the tee this past week, Korda led the field in distance and is one of many players on the top Tours around the world with a Fujikura Ventus shaft as their choice in the driver.
-
Korda’s victory continues an amazing streak for Titleist golf balls on the LPGA Tour. The brand’s Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls have now been used by the last 14 consecutive winners on the premier women’s circuit dating back to the Tour’s resumption after taking a hiatus during the early stages of COVID-19.
QUOTE: "It was just a crazy, crazy day. Crazy two days. Shooting 60 yesterday, getting myself back into contention after bogeying three holes in a row to finish my second round. Crazy week." – Jessica Korda.
