FINAL LEADERBOARD

EQUIPMENT NOTES:

  • Forrest possesses plenty of power off the tee and used it to his advantage around Fairmont St Andrews this week, but it was his elite ball striking over the week, especially on Sunday, that really stood out. The 28-year-old former amateur standout uses Titleist’s blade 620MB irons, having previously opted for some of the company’s cavity back models in the past, but also recently added a new long-iron. The T200 irons announced as part of the new T-Series in recent weeks are offered as a specialised long-iron replacement and Forrest, like Adam Scott and Jordan Spieth, has added a 2-iron to his bag during the links swing of the European Tour. Replacing a utility 3-iron in Forrest’s, the new model is designed to visually blend with irons chosen by better players and offer extra ball speed and launch.

  • Forrest is one of the many Tour pros using Graphite Design shafts in his woods, including both Olympic Gold medallists Nelly Korda and Xander Schauffele. Forrest’s blue VR shaft is one of the rarer options on Tour from the Japanese shaft maker, the VR standing for “Vanquish all Rivals”.

  • A very solid putter generally, Forrest uses a fairly traditional Scotty Cameron blade putter. The Tour Rat line also known as R&D Concept, featuring heavy face milling and adjustable sole weights, and is an extremely popular choice on all Tours around the world.
  • Forrest’s win is the second in a row on the European Tour for Titleist golf balls, and comes as part of an extremely good weekend for the brand. The Women’s Olympic Competition, WGC-FedEx Invitational and Hero Open all won by players using a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball.

QUOTE:

"To do it in front of everyone who has come up to support me - the last year and a half has been a real challenge on and off the course so I'm just delighted.” – Grant Forrest.
