Established as the most played wedges on Tour since 2004, the latest iteration of Titleist’s Vokey Design wedges, SM8, have appeared for the first time at this week’s PGA Tour stop, the RSM Classic.
Starting the company’s Tour seeding and validation process that sees Titleist’s Tour staff fit the world’s best players for the new model while also receiving feedback as part of the production process, the introduction follows months of prototyping and testing.
On site at Sea Island Golf Club this week will be Titleist Master Craftsman Bob Vokey – the man the wedge range is named for – and Vokey Tour Rep Aaron Dill as well as the company’s Director of Wedge Research and Development (R&D) Kevin Tassistro.
Players will be fit into the ideal lofts and bounces by the team during the early part of the week, with many likely to put the new model straight into play.
