Cam Smith

Age: 29

World Ranking: 8

PGA Championships Played: Seven

Best finish at the PGA: T13 (2022)

Best Major result: Win (The Open Championship 2022)

Why he can win:  Although he has had an underwhelming start by his standards to 2023, Cam found some serious form at last week's LIV Tulsa, where he fell short in a play-off to American Dustin Johnson. The Queenslander is a generational putter of the golf ball and the tricky green complexes at Oak Hill could suit his ability to create magic with the flat-stick. Smith will be right up for this, and if the driver plays ball, look out.

Jason Day

Age: 35

World Ranking: 20

PGA Championships Played: 13

Best finish at the PGA: Win (2015)

Best Major result: Win (2015 PGA Championship)

Why he can win: Arguably the hottest Aussie in the game, Day is heading to Oak Hill fresh off a breakthrough victory at the AT&T Byron Nelson in Dallas last week. Day’s start to 2023 has reminded everyone how much of a class act he is. His scrambling and putting are world class, and last time the PGA was at Oak Hill, he finished in a tie for 8th. Day knows what it takes to be successful around this golf course, and as a former champion, he will be looking to add another Wanamaker trophy to the mantelpiece.

Min Woo Lee

Age: 24

World Ranking: 62

PGA Championships Played: One

Best finish at the PGA: Cut (2022)

Best Major result: T14 (2022 Masters)

Why he can win: Being able to drive the golf ball well will be at a premium to succeed around Oak Hill, and Min Woo fits that mould. A terrific driver and ball-striker, Lee will be up for the challenge, proven when Lee found himself in the final group at the Players Championship earlier this year, with a similar field will be teeing it up in Rochester. He has proven he can mix it with the best in the world, so it wouldn’t surprise many if he features over the weekend.

Adam Scott

Age: 42

World Ranking: 38

PGA Championships Played: 22

Best finish at the PGA: Third (2018)

Best Major result: Win (2013 Masters)

Why he can win: The most experienced Aussie campaigner teeing it up this week, Scott has been finding form at the right time and will be looking to peak for a dash at a second major championship. Driving the ball as well as ever, 31st in strokes gained off the tee and 23rd in driving distance this season are solid numbers for the 42-year-old. Scott knows what it takes to win big events. Important to note, last time the PGA was at Oak Hill 'Scotty' finished in a tie for 5th. The way he has been playing, there is no reason why he can’t contend around here again.

Cam Davis

Age: 28

World Ranking: 68

PGA Championships Played: Two

Best finish at the PGA: T48 (2022)

Best Major result: T39 (2018 Open Championship)

Why he can win: Another guy that absolutely wallops the golf ball. It is just a matter of whether Davis can get it going on and around the putting surface. He certainly has the ability to contend and keep up with the best in the world off the tee, as wellas a perfect ball flight for Oak Hill. If that putter can get hot, then these odds look pretty juicy.

Lucas Herbert

Age: 27

World Ranking: 46

PGA Championships Played: Four

Best finish at the PGA: T13 (2022)

Best Major result: T13 (2022 PGA Championship)

Why he can win: Herbert turned around a shaky start to 2023 with a clinical win at the ISPS Handa Championship in Japan on the DP World Tour. After missing the Masters, Herbert has managed to get his world ranking back inside the top-50, and his game is trending in the right direction. Two decent finishes at the majors last year, a T15 at The Open and T13 at the PGA, is enough proof that he has the ability at the big events.

David Micheluzzi

Age: 26

World Ranking: 351

PGA Championship’s Played: Debut

Best finish at the PGA: Debut

Best Major result: N/A

Why he can win: Winning is a habit, and Micheluzzi found that out this Australian summer. With three wins on the PGA Tour of Australasia and topping the Order of Merit race. It has been a remarkable few months for 'Micha', who made his PGA Tour debut at the AT&T Byron Nelson last week and made the cut, eventually finishing in a tie for 67th. This week will be a completely different challenge, a maiden major championship appearance at a tricky venue. No doubt Micheluzzi will be right up for this and want to make an emphatic statement on the biggest stage.
