Hybrids, like their role in a golfer’s bag, have typically been a blend of fairway wood and iron technology, until now. Callaway transforming its offerings with the release of the new Epic Super hybrid.
The new model, which will be available around Australia from September 9, takes its technological lead from the company’s drivers. Incorporating an ‘A.I. designed Flash Face’ made of titanium, body of the same material, triaxial carbon crown and tungsten weighting, the new model is “the most technologically advanced hybrid we’ve ever made” according to Callaway.
The face architecture delivers the highest ball speeds of any hybrid in company history, which is further enhanced via ‘Jailbreak A.I. Velocity Blades’ which stiffen the body to allow for greater face flexing like the Epic Speed drivers.
To add forgiveness and higher launch to the Epic Super hybrid, up to 90 grams of tungsten lies in the perimeter of each head to increase stability and optimise launch, two performance benefits assisted by the lightweight crown material saving discretionary weight.
Similarly mirroring the company’s drivers, increased adjustability is offered via the ‘OptiFit 3 hosel’ and sole weights that allow for a more precise custom build, while the available lofts have expanded with the addition of 24° and 27° options.
Rounding out the premium model are Steelfiber FC Hybrid shafts in a variety of weight options and Lamkin UTx grips as standard.
The total package described by Callaway as “Driver DNA In A Hybrid”.
RRP: $599.99
