It will only become official on Sunday evening in America, but given Min Woo Lee’s social media posts and the projected results needed at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, the Australian is headed back to Augusta National for this year’s Masters.
Ahead of this week in Austin, Lee was ranked 47th in the world with the top-50 the week prior to The Masters receiving an invite each year. Advancing out of the group stages would have guaranteed Lee such a result, but his one win and two losses will still get him over the line.
Helped by the big names in Austin advancing to the quarterfinal stage, Lee appears likely to remain in his current world ranking spot according to Official World Golf Ranking guru Nosferatu on Twitter.
The account also confirmed Jason Day’s return to Augusta after missing last year following his match play loss in the quarterfinals to Scottie Scheffler, while the ranking update that will follow the conclusion of the event could be heartbreaking for another Aussie.
Lucas Hebert is slated to rise five spots according to the same Twitter account and end the week in 51st, one spot away from his own Masters invite.

Lee himself appeared fairly confident of the calculations published by Nosferatu, and likely with some in depth research of his own.
“To my team, family, friends and fans. I’m delighted to tell you some news. We are heading back to heaven on Earth. Augusta, see you soon 💚🌺 @TheMasters,” the West Australian tweeted and posted to his Instagram page.
The 24-year-old made his debut at the year’s first men’s major in 2021, and grabbed headlines both when his sister and two-time major winner Minjee caddied for him in the Par-3 Contest and when he tied the front nine scoring record on Sunday.
Lee went out in a blistering six-under-par 30 strokes on his way to 70 and share of 14th place.
The two-time DP World Tour winner and Day will join Adam Scott, Cam Smith and amateur Harrison Crowe in the field at Augusta in a little over a week’s time.
