South African Dylan Frittelli has won his first DP World Tour event since 2017 after making three birdies in his last six holes for a two-stroke victory at the Bahrain Championship.
Frittelli started the final round leading by two, but he was out of first place after playing the first 12 holes in a disappointing two-over par.
But he bounced back with back-to-back birdies on the par-5s, 13 and 14, and rolled in a 40-footer for birdie at the 16th to regain his two-stroke advantage.
Frittelli parred the last two holes for a one-under 71 and finished on 13 under overall for his first win since the 2017 Mauritius Open.
His only other win on the European Tour came that year, at the Lyoness Open six months earlier, though he has won since on the PGA Tour at the John Deere Classic in 2019.
That was his rookie season on the PGA Tour but he struggled there in 2023, missing the cut or withdrawing from 23 of his 27 starts and losing his full playing privileges.
"Last year there were a couple of spots where I felt like giving the game up, to be honest," admitted Frittelli, who has fallen to No.434 in the world ranking.
"I was looking for something else.
"I found some resolve at the end of last year, got some good work from my physio and my coaches and trainers, and I'm glad I persevered."

Frittelli said he felt under pressure throughout his final round and was only comfortable when standing over a 12-footer for birdie at the last, holding a two-shot lead.
Fellow South African Zander Lombard (68) and Sweden’s Jesper Svensson (70) tied for second place.
With Ockie Strydom in a two-way tie for fourth a further two strokes back, there were three South Africans in the top five.
Sydney’s Harrison Endycott, who had been within a shot of the lead midway through the third round, finished a disappointing T16 position, following a second consecutive 73.
But there was a fine final round from Victorian David Micheluzzi, who shot a 68 to also finish on five under alongside Endycott.
West Australian Haydn Barron had an even better final fling, firing a five-under 67, the joint-best round of the day, to end up at one under and T43. Fellow West Aussie Jason Scrivener (72) finished T56 on two over.
