American Talor Gooch fired a bogey-free 64 on Sunday to claim his first PGA Tour win at the RSM Classic hosted by Davis Love III. Take a look at what the 30-year-old had in the bag.
WINNING SCORE: 22-under-par, 260.

DRIVER: Callaway Epic Speed Triple Diamond LS with 9° loft, fitted with Fujikura Atmos Blue 7 X shaft.
3-WOOD: Callaway Rogue with 15° loft, with Mitsubishi Chemical Diamana D+ Limited 80 TX shaft.

WEDGES: Callaway Jaws MD5 Raw (46°-10°S, 52°-10°S, 56°-10°S & 60°-08°C), with True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 shafts.
PUTTER: Odyssey Tri Hot 2 Prototype.
BALL: Titleist Pro V1.
EQUIPMENT NOTES:
Gooch’s victory came after a recent equipment change that played a very important role during the week at Sea Island. The American inserted a new Odyssey prototype putter this week, the new models bearing the Tri Hot name of one of the brand’s most popular lines, used by K.J. Choi among others for many years on Tour. There is little detail about the new line and whether it will come to retail as the reimagined White Hot OG range did this year, but Gooch clearly likes his. The blade style head fitted with a Stroke Lab shaft helping him to rank sixth in Strokes Gained: Putting for the week.

The former Oklahoma State University student uses a lower spinning Triple Diamond version of Callaway’s Epic Speed driver. Available in very limited quantities at retail, the model sits slightly different to the standard, and produces a lower spin weight via the forward located weight in the sole that moves the centre of gravity (CG).

Gooch’s set is mostly made up of the latest and greatest from Callaway, but he does have one older model that clearly he isn’t quite ready to let go of just yet. The Big Bertha Alpha 815 hybrid was released in early 2015 and never had a huge following on Tour. The model clearly well suited to the first-time PGA Tour winner, who has his fited with a very heavy, stiff and mid ball flight shaft.

After Gooch’s win, Titleist has now been the ball of choice for the majority of winners on the PGA Tour’s new season. The brand’s Pro V1 and Pro V1x used by five of the nine winners so far in the 2021/22 schedule.
QUOTE: "First time winning on PGA Tour, to finish the season off, like this fall season like I just did, it's a dream come true. I thought about these types of interviews my whole life sitting in the showers, giving my winning speech, my winning interview, so it's an absolute dream come true.” – Talor Gooch.
