FINAL LEADERBOARD

EQUIPMENT NOTES:

  • Remarkably going bogey-free over the three rounds at Wentworth’s difficult West Course, Lowry wasn’t a standout in any particular statistic beyond his scoring. Solid through the bag, Lowry’s ball striking is often the key indicator to performance and the major winner had a solid week with his irons. Interestingly, Lowry carries three different iron models in his bag from sponsor Srixon to achieve optimal distance gapping, ball flights and forgiveness where it is needed.

  • One of the best in the world with a wedge in his hands, Lowry’s lob wedge is a little different to the retail offerings from Cleveland in a 58° option. Carrying 8° of bounce, the sole of the wedge has heel and toe relief as well as the trailing edge being ground significantly. A fan of opening the face, Lowry clearly feels he can adjust the clubface to hit any shot he requires, and only carries one other speciality wedge.

  • Lowry’s victory continues a strong year for Srixon golf balls at big events, with the brand’s range of Z-Star models also used to win two women’s major championships.

QUOTE: “I love this tournament and I love this course. I love coming here, the area, I just love everything about it. I'm so happy that I can come here and win the tournament this year. I feel like I've had a great year but it's not a great year unless you win. And I feel like this is just the glaze on the cake for me.” – Shane Lowry.
