EQUIPMENT NOTES:
Power’s first PGA Tour win is another strong result for PING, the company consistently successful particularly in the driver category across the world’s Tours in recent times. The 34-year-old who grew up playing junior golf with Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry opts for a mixture of older and new models, including his G410 driver that has been superseded by the extremely popular G425. Power also uses Accra shafts in his driver and 3-wood, the brand once among the most popular on the PGA Tour and part of the UST Mamiya family.
- Power found nearly 80 percent of greens in regulation for the week including missing just five over the course of the weekend. Playing a mixed bag of irons, Power’s iBlade 3-iron is a hollow body iron similar to his TaylorMade utility iron, while his PING Blueprint irons are the company’s first ever full forged blade model designed only for the top ball strikers.
-
Power was in an all Titleist golf ball play-off at Keene Trace, and his win is the 22nd of the year for the brand on the PGA Tour from 31 events.
QUOTE: “To me it's all perspective. I view myself as extremely lucky. I'm 34 and I've yet to work a day in my life. So every time I get to play a tournament or play an extra year on Tour, to me it's a massive bonus.” – Seamus Power.
