A final round 68, including bogey at the last, was enough for Rory McIlroy to break his PGA Tour win drought on Sunday. Here is what the Northern Irishman, who beat fellow Aussie Open winner Abraham Ancer by one, had in the bag.

EQUIPMENT NOTES:
Rory recently turned 32 and has also been making plenty of changes to his equipment setup of late. Reinserting his Rors Proto blade irons this past week clearly did the job, with McIlroy ranking T3 for Greens in Regulation for the week at Quail Hollow. The irons were a precursor to the P730 blades available at retail and used by much of TaylorMade’s Tour staff, with players like McIlroy and Justin Rose (a TaylorMade player at the time) playing a proto set with their name attached. Among the other recent changes for the former World No.1 has been his Spider X Hydro Blast putter, a spot that is prone to regular switching in McIlroy’s bag, and the 2021 version of the TP5x that he put in play earlier this year.
- The now 19-time PGA Tour winner is one of the many players opting for Fujikura’s Ventus shaft in his driver. The new model offered in three colour options that reflect different ball flight characteristics has taken the PGA Tour by storm. McIlroy also one of the players gaming clubs made for a fellow top player in the form of his TW or Tiger Woods sand and lob wedges.
- The combination of a SIM2 driver and TP5x golf ball is clearly a good one for McIlroy who averaged 324 yards off the tee for the week to rank second, his win also the second for TaylorMade’s golf balls on the PGA Tour in 2021.
QUOTE: “Ever since I first set eyes on this golf course, I loved it from the first time I played it, and that love has sort of been reciprocated back. I've played so well here over the years. I think this is the first time I've ever won an event for the third time, so that's pretty cool to do it here.” – Rory McIlroy.
