EQUIPMENT NOTES:
Herbert didn’t have his best stuff early on Sunday but battled hard, with crucial putts before making the turn sparking his back nine. Now based in America, Herbert took advantage of his long driving all week having made a fairly recent shaft change to the longest club in the bag. Herbert had previously used a Mitsubishi Chemical Diamana shaft before moving to Project X’s HZRDUS Green. The Green shaft is designed for players with plenty of power to keep spin down off the tee.
- Ball striking was always going to be key around Mount Juliet and Herbert found more greens in regulation this week than he has in his few other European Tour starts this season. Opting for the blade model in TaylorMade’s line-up that replicates the irons of Tiger Woods, Herbert does not carry a 5-iron in the set, instead carrying multiple long iron options and an extra wedge.
-
Herbert’s win is the second in a standalone European Tour event in 2021 for TaylorMade’s TP5 golf ball range, and third overall including co-sanctioned events.
