EQUIPMENT NOTES:

  • Rahm is very much in the ‘pick and stick’ camp when it comes to his equipment, with models staying the bag for long periods, while his shaft setup has remained almost unchanged since he turned professional. Many pros will remain loyal to iron and wedge shafts, whereas driver shafts are more likely to change as technology advances, or a different option is required to match a new head. But not for Rahm who has stuck with Aldila’s Tour Green in his driver and 3-wood. The models released in 2013 and proving very popular on Tour, but now exceptionally rare outside the Spaniard’s bag nearly 10 years later.

  • Rahm’s putter is another interesting element to his bag, with the 27-year-old playing a one off model from Odyssey, Callaway’s putter company. The flatstick is an unlined Rossie mallet head, with a slant neck that helps for a more arcing stroke. Rahm also typically playing his putter at a longer length than the men’s standard of 35 inches found in most pro shops.

  • Rahm’s win is the eighth for Callaway’s Chrome Soft range of golf balls on the DP World Tour so far during the 2022 season.

QUOTE: "I’ve spoken many times about how that 1997 Ryder Cup and Seve making the win that week, some friends of my dad’s started me playing golf otherwise who knows what else I’d be and I’m here because of that alone, and everything else is down to the path that he’s paved for so many of us." – Jon Rahm.
