EQUIPMENT NOTES:
Coetzee’s fifth European Tour win came on the back of a solid all round performance, where his driving distance and putting were among his standout statistics. In a week where Titleist’s latest drivers (TSi) began appearing on Tour, the South African stuck with his TS2 model to 295 yards for the week to rank inside the top-10, while his dedication to the small mallet style Odyssey #5 putter style over his career saw him average just 26 putts per round for the week in Portugal.
- The 34-year-old managed to complete his final round 66 without a bogey on his card, thanks in part to his short game that was faultless in scrambling on Sunday. Coetzee opting for Titleist’s Vokey Design SM8 wedges, which were also used by the winners on the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour last week giving the line designed by legendary wedge builder Bob Vokey a clean sweep of the major Tours.
Rising in to the top-100 in the world rankings after his win, Coetzee’s victory part of a three win weekend across LPGA, PGA and European Tour for Titleist’s Pro V1x golf ball.
