- Johnson is widely known for his long driving, but it was his work on the greens that helped deliver his 21st PGA Tour win at the Travelers Championship. Known to change putters frequently, switching between mallet and blade models, Johnson ranked fourth in both Strokes Gained: Putting and Putts per green in regulation with his Truss TB1 putter. The former World No.1 prefers the look of a blade putter whilst also enjoying the stability of a mallet, the slightly unconventional looking TaylorMade model designed for exactly those preferences. Featuring a triangle shaped piece of metal that takes inspiration from bridge building, the unique shape is hidden at address and adds stability to the traditional TB1 model that bares strong resemblance to the Scotty Cameron model Johnson used to win the US Open in 2016.
- The 36-year-old, who has recorded a PGA Tour win in 13 consecutive seasons, gave TaylorMade’s SIM driver as well as the Truss putter family their first PGA Tour victories, in the same week he added two SIM Max hybrids to his set makeup having typically used higher lofted fairway woods and utility irons to bridge the gap between his 3-wood and 4-iron.
- Johnson’s win gives TaylorMade’s five-piece TP5 family of golf balls its second win of 2020 on the PGA Tour and its second tournament title since golf’s return after Englishwoman Charley Hull used the softer TP5 to claim the first of the Rose Ladies Series events sponsored by Justin Rose and his wife Kate.
QUOTE: “Anytime you're mentioned with those guys, with Tiger, Jack, I think Arnie, you've got to feel good about that because they're the best that's ever played this game. Anytime your name is mentioned in the same sentence with them, I'm very happy.” – Dustin Johnson.
