Club professional Michael Block's fairy-tale PGA Championship reached new heights as he made a hole-in-one late in his final round that produced the loudest roar of the week at Oak Hill on Sunday.
The tee shot at the par-3 15th by Block, one of 20 teaching professionals in the field at Oak Hill, soared into the air and then slammed straight into the cup without even rattling the flagstick.
The moment left the 46-year-old Block, who was playing in a group with four-time major winner Rory McIlroy, in disbelief.
"No, no, no way. Rory did it go in?" Block said on the tee as spectators erupted in wild scenes around the green.
It marked the first hole-in-one at the PGA Championship since 2020 when South Korean Byeong Hun An aced the 11th hole during the final round at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco.
The last club professional to hit a hole-in-one at a PGA Championship was George Bowman, who aced the third hole in his first round at Valhalla Golf Club in 1996.

Understandably full of adrenaline, Block bogeyed the next but made two pars to close, including an up-and-down at the 72nd hole to finish at one-over and in a share of 15th to earn a return to the PGA Championship next year at Valhalla in Kentucky.
Again with the crowd cheering loudly, Block’s par putt at the 18th fell in the edge to a hero’s ovation.
