Miranda Wang has made an emphatic arrival on the LPGA Tour, holding her nerve to claim her maiden title at the FM Championship at TPC Boston.
The 24-year-old rookie closed with a two-under 70 to finish at 20-under-par, one stroke ahead of world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul. South Korea’s Sei Young Kim was third at 17-under, with Andrea Lee, Jin Hee Im and Rose Zhang rounding out the top five.
Wang began the final round with a three-shot lead but had to weather a late surge from Thitikul. A bogey at the par-4 15th threatened to derail her momentum, yet Wang responded with a crucial birdie putt at 17 after Thitikul’s tee shot found the rough. She then calmly parred the last to secure the victory.
The Chinese player, who opened the week with a blistering front-nine 28, became the seventh rookie winner on the LPGA Tour this season, further underlining the depth of the women’s game in 2025.
“This means everything,” Wang said after the win. “To play against the world’s best and come out on top in my first event as a member is incredible.”
Thitikul, seeking her third win of the year, praised Wang’s composure under pressure. “She played like a veteran,” the Thai star said.
For Wang, the breakthrough marks not just a personal milestone but also a statement of intent. With her debut victory, she has established herself as one to watch on an increasingly competitive LPGA Tour.
Australians Minjee Lee, Hannah Green and Cassie Porter all delivered steady performances at TPC Boston. Lee closed with rounds of 67, 71, 70 and 70 to finish tied for 20th at 10-under, while Green, who had been inside the top 10 early in the week, settled for a tie for 28th at 8-under. Porter was a shot further back in a tie for 32nd.
