In the male dominated industry of golf club management, Yarra Yarra Golf Club General Manager Andrea Watson stands out but not only because she’s a woman.
Completely new to golf when she took her first job in the dining room at Peninsula Country Club, Andrea has gone on to become one of the game’s most respected club Managers.
Among her achievements, Andrea has helped deliver two Presidents Cups as Assistant GM at Royal Melbourne, overseen major clubhouse renovations at Kingston Heath and more recently managed major course works at Yarra Yarra.
For all that, though, there was a time when she was convinced her career would end without her ever holding the top job at a golf club. That changed last year when Yarra Yarra offered her the role — just a month before COVID-19 hit.
But as she has done throughout her career, Andrea met the challenge head on and a year down the track she shares with host Rod Morri some interesting insights into what the future might hold for the golf industry.
