An Aussie on top of the golfing world
Jason Day etched his way into Australian sporting folklore after winning the 97th edition of the PGA Championship. The most lucrative of the four majors, Day became just the fifth Australian to win it since Steve Elkington in 1995, earning himself a nice payday of $2.45m (AUD).
Day's score of 20-under-par set a major championship record for strokes under par, beating Tiger Wood's record by one, which was set at the 2000 British Open.
Day's fete is one that will go down in the Australian sporting history-books and he will be preserved as a national sporting treasure.
