A nine-strong Aussie attack heads to Texas for the KPMG Women's PGA Championship. Here is how they line up and why they could be worth a wager to take out the title.
MINJEE LEE
Age: 29
World Ranking: 24
KPMG Women’s PGA Championships Played: 10
Best finish at the Women’s PGA: T2 (2022)
Best Major result: Win (2021 Evian Championship, 2022 U.S Women’s Open)
Why she can win: Lee is always at the top of the list when discussing Aussie contenders in the majors. The proof is there that she can get the job done; she is one of the most accomplished in the field. The West Australian’s form has been solid this year, and Field Ranch’s greens will test precision in approach and when rolling the rock. Lee has hit 73.43% of greens in regulation (GIR) this season, and the shift to the broomstick putter has improved her putting. Always one of the leading chances at the majors, looking for a big performance from Minjee.
HANNAH GREEN
Age: 28
World Ranking: 8
KPMG Women’s PGA Championships Played: Eight
Best finish at the Women’s PGA: Win (2018)
Best Major result: Win (2018 Women’s PGA Championship)
Why she can win: Australia’s best player has yet to taste victory in 2025 after an excellent three-win 2024 on the LPGA Tour. Green is still hitting the ball just as well as she was last year, recording three top-10s in her nine starts on the American circuit this year. The Perth native is a tough customer and certainly won’t back down from a tussle if Field Ranch’s East course shows its teeth. She has proven she can get it done in this very event, combining that with some solid form with good numbers – hitting 73.94% of fairways and 75.16% of greens in regulation – it would be a shock to many if she didn’t feature late in this one.
GRACE KIM
Age: 24
World Ranking: 96
KPMG Women’s PGA Championships Played: Two
Best finish at the Women’s PGA: 14th (2023)
Best Major result: 14th (2023 Women’s PGA Championship)
Why she can win: The Sydneysider is making her third consecutive start at the KPMG Women’s PGA; her best finish came at the start of that run in 2023. Kim has found her feet at this level and relishes in the top flight. Although she hasn’t added to her lone LPGA Tour win in her rookie season of 2023, Kim has consistently made it to the weekend, which is huge early in a career. The 24-year-old has made seven out of ten cuts this year, and her best finish came at the Black Desert Championship (9th). The one number that leaps off the page with Kim is her driving accuracy, ranked 14th on Tour, finding an impressive 78.37% of fairways. If Kim can tidy up the iron play, find more greens and that putter gets hot, she certainly has the tools to succeed in the major cauldron.

STEPH KYRIACOU
Age: 24
World Ranking: 39
KPMG Women’s PGA Championships Played: Three
Best finish at the Women’s PGA: T10 (2022)
Best Major result: Second (2024 Evian Championship)
Why she can win: Kyriacou has been playing phenomenal golf lately, and that maiden LPGA Tour win must be around the corner. The Sydneysider’s statistics are rock solid across the board; the game looks in a fantastic spot from tee to green. Ten out of 11 cuts made this year, three top-10 finishes, the 24-year-old looks content with her game and prepared to take each shot as it comes, not dwelling on each miss. Kyriacou is blossoming into one of Australia’s best young prospects. Don’t expect something dissimilar to what we saw at the Evian Championship last year.
ROBYN CHOI
Age: 27
World Ranking: 229
KPMG Women’s PGA Championships Played: One
Best finish at the Women’s PGA: CUT (2024)
Best Major result: T54 (2024 Chevron)
Why she can win: At 27, she earned full LPGA status as medalist at the 2023 Q-Series and has carried solid momentum into the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. In 2025, she’s made the cut in all three LPGA starts, including a T-9 at the Mexico Riviera Maya Open. Her steady ball-striking and proven ability to handle pressure. Highlighted by her strong Q-Series comeback, make her a dark horse to climb the leaderboard in Texas.

HIRA NAVEED
Age: 27
World Ranking: 132
KPMG Women’s PGA Championships Played: One
Best finish at the Women’s PGA: CUT (2024)
Best Major result: CUT
Why she can win: Naveed is a fierce competitor. Her standout amateur career at Pepperdine and her Epson Tour CV makes the West Australian well suited to the precision demands and strategic challenges of the Women’s PGA. Though she’s still finding her feat in the big leagues – yet to earn a weekend tee time at the majors. Her mix of power, accuracy, and fearless mindset positions her as a dark‑horse threat who could surprise in Texas.

KARIS DAVIDSON
Age: 26
World Ranking: 245
KPMG Women’s PGA Championships Played: One
Best finish at the Women’s PGA: CUT (2023)
Best Major result: T56 (2023)
Why she can win: Davidson is rejuvenated and confident heading into this week. She enters the PGA off the back of her best performance on the LPGA Tour, T7, at The Meijer Classic. The Queenslander took a breather from pro golf last year to complete a six-month TAFE age and disability care course and wasn’t sure if she’d ever be back. She returns refreshed and playing for the right reasons. The putter has looked great; she looks in a great spot mentally; maybe she can cause a stir this week.
CASSIE PORTER
Age: 22
World Ranking: 167
KPMG Women’s PGA Championships Played: Debut
Best finish at the Women’s PGA: Debut
Best Major result: T40 (2025 Chevron)
Why she can win: Porter steps into her KPMG Women’s PGA Championship debut with one of the biggest weapons in the field: length. Averaging north of 270 yards off the tee, she sits comfortably among the LPGA Tour’s longest hitters (19th on Tour) a serious asset anywhere but especially at Fields Ranch East, where wide corridors and lengthy par 4s favour those who can send it deep. There’s more to her game than just raw power. Porter plays with conviction, her putting is as impressive as her length, and her T4 finish at Blue Bay earlier this year proved she is more than capable of competing at this level. If she can keep the ball in play and control her approaches into the course’s tiered greens, the Hanse design could set up perfectly for her attacking approach.
GABI RUFFELS
Age: 25
World Ranking: 68
KPMG Women’s PGA Championships Played: Three
Best finish at the Women’s PGA: T24 (2023)
Best Major result: T13 (U.S Women’s Open, AIG Women’s Open)
Why she can win: Another impressive and consistent Aussie performer, Ruffels, has shown she plays her best when the stakes are at their highest. Multiple top-10 finishes on the LPGA Tour this season illustrate that Ruffels can contend week after week. Her solid ball-striking, diligent course management, and sharp putting suit Fields Ranch East’s firm, fast conditions perfectly. Add in her steady major performances, including solid finishes at past KPMG Women’s PGAs, and Ruffels has the mentality and game to go deep in significant events. She’s a genuine threat to lift the trophy.
