Already an extremely popular model blending forgiveness with the refined looks and feel preferred by better players, TaylorMade’s P•790 irons are now available in a new black finish.
Created using an advanced PVD process, the new look model incorporate the same technologies of the standard P•790 to deliver improved off-centre strike performance, distance, and feel, created with a hollow-body construction and the company’s ‘SpeedFoam’.
“First, solid metal is vaporized into plasma before it's used to precisely coat the iron, producing a completely new look,” TaylorMade says of the new process to create the unique high gloss black look that is complimented by black steel shafts from True Temper.
The SpeedFoam is injected into the hollow head to allow for increased perimeter weighting for greater forgiveness, while also improving feel across the hitting area.
The face is able to be extremely thin thanks to the use of SpeedFoam, ‘Thru-Slot Speed Pockets’ raise ball speeds on the lower part of the face and ‘Progressive ICT’ (Inverted Cone Technology) improves performance throughout the set with loft specific design.
“P•790 Black is elegant aggression. The bold aesthetic blends perfectly with the powerful performance, delivering a daring look and irons that are made to take on daring shots,” TaylorMade’s Matt Bovee said. “Packed with all the technology of the original chrome finish, this set will stand out in the bag and on the course.”
