It is well established the golf industry is booming around Australia. And GreenSpace Management are leading the way in bringing even more people to the game and allowing facilities to maximise revenue.
The group, which manages the 9-hole layout at Regency Park Community Golf Course on behalf of the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, recently opened its second SHANX mini golf facility at the venue just 10 minutes north of Adelaide’s CBD.
Following the successful launch of SHANX @ Links Shell Cove, the new facility was created from a 1,750m2 space that formerly housed a practice putting green that brought in no revenue to the course. SHANX @ Regency Park selling out available bookings after opening and the entire Regency Park facility set to welcome more than 85,000 users per year, which would make it South Australia’s busiest golf facility.
“The first 17 days of trade completely sold out. Our team has been completely flooded with people wanting to play SHANX,” General Manager of GreenSpace Management Peter Vlahandreas told Golf Australia magazine. “We have had lines to get in!”

“We believe this is the most exciting golf development to happen in Adelaide over the last decade, so there is plenty of interest, excitement and buzz around SHANX. Most people playing are non-golfers, in fact most people playing SHANX have never been to a golf course before.”
Diversifying the patronage at the facility is a huge plus for Regency Park, while the potential of turning a mini golf visitor into a golfer down the line has a significant upside for the golf industry as a whole.
And the success of the new facility and the New South Wales development opened south of Sydney earlier this year have certainly been getting plenty of attention from more than just those turning up to take on the fun for all challenge of SHANX mini golf.
“Interest nationally (and internationally) has been very positive since we started, all I can say is watch this space, we have some very exciting projects in planning. Our third SHANX facility will open early 2022 in Queensland,” Vlahandreas said. “This project simply could not have been achieved without the foresight of the City of Port Adelaide Enfield to be different, drive change and engage their community.”
For their part, the government body could also could not be happier with the early results and potential of what SHANX @ Regency Park can become for the residents of the greater Adelaide region and visitors to South Australia.

“The City of PAE is thrilled to be working alongside Greenspace Management to bring something new and exciting to Regency Park Community Golf Course, that both the golfing community and the local community will love. SHANX is a new way to play golf unlike anything seen before in the Southern Hemisphere,” City of Port Adelaide Enfield Mayor Claire Boan said.
Players are charged just $14 each, or $12 per person for groups of four or more. The affordability just one of the positive elements of the new facility, with experienced golfers and kids likely to have as much fun as one another thanks to course design.
Beyond the players, for courses looking to maximise their potential earnings, and offerings to a wide variety of people, the small footprint but significant traffic of SHANX @ Regency Park on a previously non-revenue generating space is something worth taking note of.
