PING’s new s259 wedges build on the Tour-proven s159 platform, bringing higher spin, more precise control and a broader range of grinds and lofts to suit every type of player. With refined shaping, new grind options, and updated groove geometry, the s259 family delivers a cleaner look at address with the feel, sound, and performance demanded at the highest level.
Spin is the cornerstone of the s259 design. Each wedge features precision-milled, wheel-cut grooves that vary by loft to optimise control. The higher-lofted models (54°–62°) use tighter-spaced MicroMax grooves to maximise spin and stopping power around the greens, while the lower-lofted wedges (46°–52°) use a 20-degree sidewall to increase groove volume for greater control on fuller swings. A friction-enhancing face blast further improves launch and spin consistency in all conditions.
PING has also refined the sole grinds to increase versatility without sacrificing forgiveness. The E-grind has been reshaped to look more familiar at address while still excelling from bunkers and on slightly open-faced shots. The T-grind now features a steeper trailing edge, allowing the face to sit lower when opened for delicate touch shots. Meanwhile, new 50° and 52° W-grind options have been added for players with steeper angles of attack who want a more forgiving, lower-lofted wedge to improve gapping.
Loft-specific shaping also plays a big role. Lower-lofted s259 wedges (46°–50°) feature a straighter leading edge and a lower, more centred centre of gravity to blend seamlessly into iron sets. Mid-lofts (50°–54°) use a higher CG and a full-length bottom groove to improve distance control and partial shots. Higher-lofted wedges (56°–62°) introduce more visual offset and a smaller hosel, helping golfers feel more confident when opening and manipulating the face around the greens.

All s259 wedges are built from investment-cast 8620 carbon steel with a re-shaped elastomer insert for improved feel, and are available in PING’s anti-glare Midnight finish across every loft and grind.
Key Technology & Design
Precision-milled wheel-cut grooves
Loft-specific groove geometry delivers high spin and consistent control from every lie and distance.
MicroMax groove pattern
Tighter groove spacing in higher lofts enhances spin and stopping power around the greens, complemented by a full-length bottom groove for added consistency.
Friction-enhancing face blast
Improves launch and spin control, particularly on touch shots and in wet conditions.
Six sole grinds, 25 loft/grind combinations
B, H, S, W, T and E grinds cover everything from soft sand to tight turf and open-face finesse shots.
Refined E-grind
Reshaped for a more traditional look while maintaining strong performance from bunkers and open-faced shots.
Low-profile T-grind
A steeper trailing edge allows the face to sit lower when opened, ideal for creative short-game players.
New W-grind options
50° and 52° W grinds give steeper players a more forgiving, lower-lofted option for better gapping.
Tour-inspired construction
Investment-cast 8620 carbon steel head with a larger, re-shaped elastomer insert for improved feel and sound.
Premium finish and build
Anti-glare Midnight finish available across all lofts and grinds. The stock shaft is the PING Z-Z115, featuring the new Dylawedge grip, designed to help players control hand position, face angle, and shaft lean.

Loft & Grind Line-up (Selected Highlights)
The s259 range covers 46° to 62° across six distinct sole grinds:
- S Grind (46°–60°) – A versatile, higher-bounce option that blends well into iron sets and suits a wide range of players.
- W Grind (50°–60°) – High-bounce, forgiving sole for steeper swings and softer turf or sand.
- H Grind (54°–60°) – A mid-bounce, slightly more compact sole for controlled versatility.
- B Grind (58°–60°) – Lower bounce with a narrower sole for players who like to manipulate the face.
- T Grind (58°–62°) – Low bounce with a steep trailing edge for open-face shots and tight lies.
- E Grind (Eye 2, 58°–60°) – Classic Eye2-inspired shape with strong sand and open-face performance.
With 25 loft and grind combinations, the s259 wedges give golfers a true fitting matrix — whether you’re blending into a PING iron set or building a short-game setup for Tour-level precision.
