Odyssey’s White Hot putters, and more specifically the insert technology, remain one of the most popular items of golf equipment in recent history. And the company is set to bring the insert back with the new White Hot OG line of putters announced today.
Described by Odyssey – Callaway Golf’s putter brand – as “the most iconic, most played, and most decorated putter insert of all time”, the original White Hot insert has been requested by Tour players and average golfers alike consistently, despite being released more than 20 years ago.
The popularity of the soft-feeling face and the subsequent request has lead Odyssey to return to the original formulation for its latest release.
“Creating the new White Hot OG line has been so exciting for our team,” Callaway Golf SVP and Odyssey GM Sean Toulon said. “Based on the insert’s incredible feel and performance, Touring professionals around the world still make this insert their overwhelming first choice. And we wanted to make sure the rest of the product would be perceived the same way. We spent hours upon hours poring over every detail of each component to make sure discerning golfers around the world would recognize this family of putters as world class immediately. We couldn’t be more excited to introduce White Hot OG.”
Included amongst the players requesting the feel and performance of the White Hot insert was Aussie Marc Leishman, who put a White Hot OG 1WS in play at the Sentry Tournament of Champions last week.
The Victorian even took to Instagram to share some images of his new flatstick.
The White Hot formulation, feel, sound and performance are built into a two-part urethane insert, meanwhile the look of the White Hot OG similarly harks back to its namesake, with a rich silver finish accentuated by milled surfaces.
Offered in eight models in both a stepless steel shaft and Odyssey’s Stroke Lab shaft technology, which improves consistency and performance through ideal weight placement and a blend of steel and graphite, the new models will be at retail from January 28 around Australia.
RRP: $399.99.
