Scotty Cameron’s name is synonymous with beautifully crafted putters. His traditional shape designs have timeless appeal, however, some players look for more forgiveness from their putter.
Inspired by working with tour players the 2017 Futura line offers stability and forgiveness for all levels of player. Cameron said of this process “It’s this focus on making putters for the best players in the game that drives me to continue to innovate, experiment and push the boundaries of what we offer to all dedicated golfers”.
Ranging from mid-mallets to high-tech, high moment-of-inertia (MOI) large mallets, the 2017 Futura uses innovative multi-material design techniques. A wrap-around face-sole made from aircraft grade aluminium is mixed with precision milled 303 stainless steel to add perimeter weight, improving stability and forgiveness without sacrificing feel.
When introducing the line Cameron said “This new Futura line blends my ideas about high-performance putter designs with my longstanding ideals that high-tech should always be high-quality.”
A vibration dampening system is built in to each putter connecting the face-sole and the stainless steel frame that produces a feel that Cameron describes as “soft, but solid”.
Milled sightlines are complemented by pop-through alignment cues and rail alignments on some models, inspiring confidence at address. An eye catching combination of a glare-resistant silver mist top and anodized black sole give the new Futura line a modern look.
The numbered model names (5CB, 5MB, 5W, 5S, 6M, 7M, 6M-DB) indicate head size; the higher the number the larger the putter head and two removable weights in the sole, allow Titleist to optimise balance and feel at different lengths.
In keeping with the inspiration from the tour, Black Matador Midsize grip comes standard on Futura putters. The 6M Dual-Balance is counter-balanced at the grip end of the longer shaft and comes with the Matador Midsize Dual-Balance grip as standard.
The 2017 Futura line will be available in Australian golf shops from March 17.
SRP: $569; $589 (Dual-balance)
