The New Year marks a time for improving your golf game and taking it to the next level? Some new equipment from Titleist can take you there in 2016.
Titleist 716 AP1 and AP2 Irons
New 716 AP iron models deliver best-in-class combination of distance, forgiveness and shot-stopping performance in player-preferred profiles.
Titleist’s 716 AP1 is the longest, most forgiving Titleist iron ever, designed for golfers seeking maximum distance and maximum forgiveness.
A 360º Undercut Cavity results in a large, thin, unsupported face area, which flexes more at impact for increased ball speed. High Density Tungsten, placed in the long and mid irons, produces a lower centre of gravity (CG) for a higher launch angle.
The forgiving High-MOI design – with 50 percent more tungsten than prior generation 714,– maximises heel and toe stability without increasing AP1’s preferred blade length, while producing higher ball speeds across the face for more consistent distance on off-centre hits.
The 716 AP2 is Titleist’s most advanced players’ iron, made even better, delivering tour-proven distance with forgiveness and solid forged feel.
High Density Tungsten weighting creates a Low CG that is perfectly aligned at impact to increase speed and distance. The forgiving High-MOI design –, with 25 percent more tungsten than prior generation 714 – drives higher ball speeds across the face for more consistent distance on off-centre hits at a tour-preferred blade length. AP2’s innovative construction combines a forged 1025 Carbon steel body with tungsten weighting in the long and mid irons producing low CG and high MOI with Solid Forged Feel.
SRP: Titleist 716 AP1 $165 per club (steel shafts); $205 per club (graphite).
SRP: Titleist 716 AP2 $225 per club (steel shafts); $265 per club (graphite).
For Tour-Proven shot-making and solid forged feel, the CB’s high-tech construction provides shot-making with forgiveness, while the MB’s modern, high muscle profile enhances tour-proven look and feel.
Titleist’s 716 CB irons provide shot control with forgiveness and solid forged feel through the game’s most high-tech blade construction.
High Density Tungsten weighting creates a low CG that is perfectly aligned at impact to increase speed and distance. A High-MOI design drives higher ball speeds across the face for more consistent distance on off-centre hits, without the loss of workability or shot control, at the CB’s constant, tour-preferred blade length. Optimised CG heights, low with a slight progression up through the set, deliver precise, tour-proven trajectory, while increasing the sweet spot for solid feel.
Titleist’s 716 MB irons deliver maximum shot control with pure, forged feel through a precise, muscle back design with high-tech refinements.
A modern High Muscle Design with a squarer toe and thin top-line, inspired by the Titleist Forged 680 series (circa 2003), delivers tour-proven flight with maximum shot and trajectory control. The high muscle back weighting, better positioned behind the sweet spot, provides pure, forged feel on every shot. Optimised CG heights, deliver precise, tour-proven trajectory, while increasing the sweet spot for solid feel. New MB irons feature precise profiles that look perfect from long irons to short and provide consistent performance on every shot.
SRP: Titleist 716 CB $225 per club (steel shafts); $265 per club (graphite).
SRP: Titleist 716 MB $215 per club (steel shafts); $255 per club (graphite).
Titleist 716 T-MB Utility Irons
Technically advanced utility irons deliver Tour-proven combination of high launch, long carry distance and forgiveness in a muscle back frame.
Titleist’s T-MB irons provide the game’s most playable and forgiving utility iron performance through a sophisticated, high-tech construction.
A thin, 431 stainless steel body with a high-strength Thin Fast Face allows the face to flex more at impact, increasing launch and speed for more distance. The thin body design also creates discretionary weight for redistribution to more optimal areas of the clubhead.

Extreme High Density Tungsten weighting within the muscle back frame concentrates the discretionary weight to produce a Low and Deep CG for higher launch, lower spin and increased carry distance. The forgiving High-MOI design – with an average of more than 80 grams of tungsten per head – drives higher ball speeds across the face for more consistent distance on off-centre hits, without the loss of workability or shot control at the T-MB’s tour-preferred blade lengths (same as Titleist AP2). T-MB, with high density tungsten weights precisely placed in the heel and toe, has nearly 7 percent higher MOI than 712U.
SRP: Titleist 716 T-MB (2- to 4-iron) $309 per club (steel shafts); $349 per club (graphite).
New H1 and H2 models provide superior distance technology with precision fitting to improve long game performance.
Titleist’s 816H models deliver an unparalleled combination of distance and forgiveness through the game’s best hybrid technology.
The Active Recoil Channel – a long, deep channel, positioned along the sole of the clubhead, close to the leading edge – delivers more distance by actively flexing at impact to launch the ball with lower spin and higher speed. An Ultra Thin Face works in combination with the Active Recoil Channel to deliver increased ball speed across the entire face. A precise High-MOI design with a low center of gravity (CG) location delivers stability and forgiveness by preserving ball speed across the face for distance consistency on off centre hits.
The 816H hybrids feature a new SureFit Tour hosel configuration that adjusts loft and lie independently in 1º increments (as compared to .75º increments on 915). The 1º increments mirror the adjustments typically made to irons, while allowing more fitting flexibility for players to try the same lofts at different shaft lengths.
The 816H1 has a larger profile that provides confidence, with slightly increased face progression that performs well from the rough.
The 816H2 has a more compact shape with a slight offset for iron-like shot control for players who engage the turf more aggressively.
SRP: $369.
