Having been sighted on Tour throughout 2017 both the new Apex MB and X Forged have already found a home in the bags of Tour and major winners like Phil Mickelson, whose set incorporates a mix of both models.

Look, feel and control are key performance characteristics for better players and both new models deliver these important aspects through Callaway’s precise ‘Triple Net Forging’ process which allows the company to produce the ‘20V’ groove pattern. The aggressive grooves deliver increased spin and control for outstanding workability and performance from any lie, even working to limit fliers from the long grass.

Forged from a single piece of 1025 Carbon steel, the chrome Apex MB features the expected soft feel of a traditional muscle-back blade and has already become the company’s most popular iron on Tour.

Unlike a distance-driven, game improvement iron the Apex MB carries ‘traditional’ lofts to produce the consistent distance and flight the target player craves in a club. Which Senior Director Global Strategy, Irons and Woods Luke Williams describes as having “… the shortest blade length, smallest head and thinnest sole of any irons in the current Callaway range …”

And the centre of gravity of the Apex MB has been fine tuned to combine with the iron’s traditional lofts for even greater control and the ball flight preferred by Callaway’s Tour staff.

In addition to offering the look desired by the Tour players whose feedback shaped the model’s development, the smaller blade profile also delivers a performance benefit, with the smaller head offering improved turf interaction from the rough, as even the best players in the world occasionally miss fairways.

“Our Tour players have been at the heart of this pure, forged muscle-back iron,” said Williams. “During the R&D process we discussed every detail of what makes a great iron for them, the things they like now, and even the things they liked in the past.”

And the Apex MB’s stunning looks match its traditional better player performance.

Similarly offering a beautifully classic look and memorable forged feel the new X Forged is the latest high-quality Callaway iron to bear the popular model name that emotes thoughts of tour-driven and technologically enhanced better player irons.

Slightly longer and larger in head size than the Apex MB and featuring a small cavity back design the X Forged offers Tour and better players workability as well as improved forgiveness in a single piece design that helps ensure impressive feel.

Again the X Forged has been shaped by what the top players on the planet look for in an iron and the “Tour configured soles” deliver the turf interaction that Tour players desire while the set’s progressive centre of gravity (CG) improves ball flight and shot-shape control even further.

“X Forged is not quite so intimidating to play as Apex MB and is for golfers that prefer the feel offered by a single-piece forging, with some additional forgiveness,” Williams said.

Both the Apex MB and X Forged will be available at retail from November 17.

RRP: $224.99 per iron.
