The 23-year-old American revealed on Twitter that she felt her arm was swelling after she had completed a "typical morning workout" on Friday.

"At the advice of my doctor, I went to the Emergency Room as a precaution. I was diagnosed with a blood clot," Korda wrote in her social media post.

"I am currently at home getting treatment to eliminate further risks. I will communicate my status as and when there is more information.

"In the meantime, I want to thank everyone for their support and ask for privacy for all our family during this time. I hope to be back soon."

Korda is coming off the best year of her career where she won the KPMG Women's PGA Championship for her first major title and the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

However, she has not played since the LPGA Drive On Championship in early February, opting to skip the Tour's Asian Swing.

Korda had initially planned to return for the JTBC Classic in Carlsbad, California from March 24-27.
