World No.1 Jason Day seems set to sign a US$10 million apparel contract with Nike.
Nike recently announced it was getting out of the golf equipment manufacturing business to focus on becoming the biggest shoes and apparel brand in the game. It seems its first move is hitch its wagon to the Day train.
And, as ESPN has been reporting, Day is likely to earn more than $US10 million a year for wearing Nike shoes, apparel and hat. He is the third World No.1 player to be dressed by Nike, which follows in the footsteps of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.
The Queenslander signed with Taylormade-Adidas in 2006, after playing Nike clubs and wearing their apparel during his years as an elite amateur.

Day’s contract with Taylormade-Adidas runs out at the end of 2016. Adidas announced earlier this year it was selling its golf businesses, but Day has apparently re-signed a deal to continue to play TaylorMade equipment. He currently uses a Taylormade M1 driver, M2 3-wood, RSi irons, TM Tour Preferred wedges, a limited edition red Spider putter and the Tour Preferred golf ball.
The 28-year-old has been the world’s top ranked golfer for 25 consecutive weeks, which is the most of any player since McIlroy had the No.1 spot between August 2014 and August 2015.
