Innovative Blitz Golf set out to change golf tournaments, making the game faster, louder and bolder, while being inclusive for all.
And later this year, Blitz will once again change the landscape with its new Blitz Golf League, which culminates in the national final held at Glenelg Golf Club in South Australia.
The league will continue to use the Blitz format where players compete over limited holes that make their way through the heavily populated central village and see stadium holes, music and plenty of atmosphere.
“We work to rewrite the rule book and make golf an inclusive game for spectators, players and families alike by having something for everyone, whether they are huge golf fans or new to the sport,” Blitz Golf’s Simon Zybek told Golf Australia magazine.
Played across 2021 and 2022, this summer’s Blitz Golf League will form the blueprint for the schedule in future years, with players accumulating points at each event to attempt to qualify for the national final, which will be the richest one day golf event in Australia.

The ‘Race to Glenelg’ will see 32 players compete at each event over 6-holes before half the field is cut, then 3-holes where four advance to the final played on one hole. Nearest the pins are used as tie breakers.
Across the five lead-up events played around the country, including the final two played in Adelaide in a roadshow through the city, players will earn 8 points as the overall winner, 4 points as a finalist, 2 points for advancing to the second round and 1 point just for teeing it up.
In addition to the five professional events, there will be an amateurs only qualifying event played at Aston Hills in South Australia, while the final field at Glenelg will also be made up via some other unique methods.
The top-8 from the points race will earn a spot, so too the top players from the previous year, and sponsor invitations, women and elite amateur invites as well as golfers chosen by social media fan polls will all compete at the national final.
The unique professional event field will play after an amateur final conducted in the morning that follows 24 amateur events staged around the country.
